As of today, February 11th, the mask mandate for businesses has been lifted. However, schools and health care facilities still require masking and I am just fine with that. The positivity rate for tests is at 4-5% which is the lowest it has been in about 9 months.
But, remember that in June 2021, we were at a 0.45% positive test rate and look what happened. Last spring, I, along with most of us, felt that the worst was over and we would soon return to “normal.” And look where we have been! I know everyone is tired of restrictions, masks, testing. In my experience, children don’t mind wearing masks. It has become a part of our lives. I think it is the adults who mind it more. I ask you to be patient moving forward. Don’t push schools into removing masks yet.
On another note, we were able to pre-order vaccine for 6 month – 4 year old vaccine. It will require FDA and CDC approval, but given the fact that we are able to order vaccine means we are very close to being able to offer the vaccine to the very young children. We anticipate starting vaccinations in mid March. We will keep you updated.
