Benefits of fish consumption during pregnancy

2017 recommendations now indicate that 2-3 servings per week of certain fish while pregnant are beneficial for fetal brain development. You should still avoid shark, swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish from the Gulf of Mexico, orange roughy, marlin, and bigeye tuna because of mercury content, but concerns about mercury ingestion from other fish are no longer a concern.
