We, along with every pediatric practice in the area, are experiencing a huge increase in the number of patients needing to be seen on a daily basis. Many of these visits are for very mild illness that you would not normally seek care for. We are working with the local health department, hospital systems and schools to try to change some of the process. Unfortunately, there are many moving parts to this and we will not see huge changes in the near future.
It looks like we might be able to start immunizing our 5-11 year olds in the not to distance future. I think the key to getting back to “normal” will be in immunizing as many as we can. I know many of you are eager to get your children immunized. I also know there are many who have concerns about the vaccine. In the coming weeks, I will do my best to keep you informed about the immunization as well as any changes in the state regulations relating to school and symptoms.
In the meantime, please STAY CALM and CARRY ON.
